THE NEED FOR CHANGE
The current landscape of government contracting reveals a stark underrepresentation of women, especially minority women. Less than 5% of federal contracts are awarded to women-owned small businesses, and the numbers are even more dismal for minority women-owned firms. This disparity not only limits economic opportunities for women but also hinders the sector’s overall growth and innovation.
Furthermore, young girls face unique challenges that can affect their mental health and well-being, with a disproportionate number experiencing depression, anxiety, and even trafficking.
